Nodame Cantabile

20 Dec

Guess I picked a good time to finally start watching the dramas I’ve collected over the past few months, one of which is Nodame Cantabile (live-action). Based on googled research, it looks like it’ll culminate in a happy Christmas ending. :)

Another good reason is that the “season two” of this series is coming out as a two-movie project, one of which was released yesterday, on the 19th of December. Now I just have to wait for it to be translated and subbed! :D

I normally hate waiting for sequels and such, mainly because I end up forgetting about them while waiting. Then, when I finally remember, it usually a few months to a year after they were released… So this is perfect!

So much better than that Boke Dake no Madonna that I attempted to watch a few months ago… This may not beat Mei-chan no Shitsuji in my heart (AAAAAAHHHH RIHITO-SAMAAAA), but it’s pretty good. :) Chiaki Shinichi is the lead male character, and his type-A personality + manly good looks caught my attention immediately! To top it off, he plays the piano + violin + conducts + is extremely musically talented and has such a serious, yet dorky-sweet personality when caught off-guard. He’s got that oji-sama appeal and arrogance, which will, obviously, be deflated by the love interest. His actor is Tamaki Hiroshi.

Nodame did not endear herself to me immediately, as she is both unhygenic and irresponsible…  I don’t like people who stink. She also takes advantage of Chiaki-sama’s hospitality WAY too much. >_< I’m getting used to her though, more so than that irritating lead female in Boku Dake no Madonna, whose name I have easily forgotten. Nodame is played by Ueno Juri, who I must say did a remarkable job at being disgustingly adorable yet annoying. :)

I’m not fully supporting the Chiaki x Nodame pairing yet, but I guess the remainder of the episodes will change my mind. With a great deal of self-control, I’ve only watched episodes 1 – 4 so far. There are 11 + 2sp total. 5 days to Christmas (and my musical) to finish this series! :))

This series makes me wish I took my piano more seriously… =/ Kind of depressing how I’ve hit Grade 7 but can’t even play simple chords well, let alone a full-fledged classical piece. Ah well.

In real life, I managed to spring-clean my wardobe today. Filtered out three boxes of stuff I probably wouldn’t wear anymore. All my clothes now fit into my closet, yay! It’s kind of weird having so much floor space all of a sudden, but it’s a nice change from having to side-step dresses, cardigans and hangers just to reach the air-con switch.

Next cleaning project: Dressing table + accessories; at present, I can’t even close the drawers OR see the table-top.

Dragonball: White dude version

16 Mar

Nothing beats the absurdity of hearing a white guy scream “KAME-HAME-HAAAAA~”, and recite the prayer to call forth Shen Long…

Goku: “COME FORTH, DRAGON.”
Wei Phin: “Wtf, then the dragon really appear ah?”
- Shen Long appears and roars on-screen. -

I grinned inside, haha. Other priceless things were “Sifu Norris”, and Chi Chi’s (largely successful) attempts to romance Goku. Oh, and the two stock characters… that scientist lady who came looking for her Promethion, and the Asian dude who dug a hole and tried to make money off of the protagonists when they fell into it…

I have never read/seen/watched the original series, be it in anime or manga form, so I can’t compare the storyline accuracy, but I think I know when an actor FAILS. Haha. I daresay the actor for Goku was not so great with the acting skills, because he was awkward at points, and you could see him thinking about his next move.

I FELT LIKE I WAS WATCHING A VERY BAD DUB. It would have been THAT much cooler if it was in Japanese, and with English subtitles, IMHO. But it was bearable… It was entertaining… And I wouldn’t pay to watch it again. Come to think of it, it would be the kind of movie that I’d wait for to reach DVD, rent it, and then watch it.

The special effects were really cool, though. :P

Entertainment factor, it rates a 7.5 out of 10.

Props to the horny Master Rosh…Raisha… whatever his name was. Bikini quarterly indeed. :)

“It started out as a feeling…”

“…which then grew into a hope, which then turned into a quiet thought, which then turned into a quiet word…” — The Call by Regina Spektor

Went to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian yesterday with a bunch of ME1/08 & DT1/08 batchmates–about 20 of us noisily landed in the Sunway Pyramid TGV cinemas… and because we didn’t know our proper seat numbers, ended up taking over all the couple seat rows, hahaha! I tended to be a bit reactive during the movie, but what was funny was that every time I squealed or cheered, everyone thought it was poor, innocent Xiao Wen who was sitting beside me…

As with the first Narnia movie, I loved and enjoyed this one thoroughly. <3 It’s that joy that comes from seeing the characters you read about as children suddenly burst into life on the golden screens just as you remembered them.

Prince Caspian is definitely worth a watch, and probably a few more re-watches. ;D The only complaint about the movie that I have is that they stuck Shrek-like humor in at the WRONG TIMES! Putting a funny scene right in the middle of a solemn one is a horrible thing to do–it just spoilt the moment. DDD: Apart from that, everything else was splendid. Certain parts made me cry, and overall, the movie left me in a happy, dreamy, satisfied mood.

Of course, I expected a younger man for Prince Caspian, but Ben Barnes was sufficiently sweet as eye candy for me to ignore his “oldness” when compared to Georgie Henley, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, and William Moseley. His on-screen relationship with Anna Popplewell made me happpyyyyyyy~ The chemistry happened from the first moment they met on-screen, and the sparks definitely flew sky-high! I waited the ENTIRE movie for… erm… that. Well done, I’d say. Even though it wasn’t in the book, I didn’t mind it one single bit.

Still, Aslan and Lucy’s dialogues remain my favorite scenes in the movie. Read deep and it makes wonderful sense.

Okay. This man. Ben Barnes, actor for Prince Caspian. Total hawtness. Very very very very VERY good-looking. WAHHHHH!!!!! *fangirls* One of the rare times I find a real-life actor droolworthy. Manliness – check, long sexy hair – check, sexy voice – check, brooding expressions – check, good physique – check, brute strength – check, cheesy corny pickup lines – check… OH PRINCE CASPIAN/BEN BARNES, I LURRRRVEEEEE YOUU. If we had babies, they would be dead sexy. Because of his genes. And awesome–because of mine, haha. And he’s a nice age too (26 years, count ‘em all).

I mean, look at that… He can even look sexy while chilling in normal clothes and cheesily holding up a flag (in a CONVERTIBLE!! ♥). So, Ben Barnes, why don’t you live closer to me, say… in Malaysia? Even Singapore would be cool. Or Thailand. I could have just dropped by easily. Unless you can wait for 2 years, when I leave IMU for (possibly) UK and come find you. :DDDD La la la~

A girl can dream if she wants to.

Sorry, Amanda & Elvyna — he’s mine. ;D

.__. I miss cute white boys…
