Happy Deepavali to all who celebrate it!

Went for my first Deepavali open house (in a very, very long time) at… Ashvini’s! I feel so “uncultured” with regards to Malaysian culture; I’ve forgotten a lot of customs and stuff, so I have to slowly immerse myself into the jumble of colors and smells and tastes.

She’s got a really beautiful house with lots and lots and lots of old-school photos, heh. Got to see her adorable babyface, and her room, where her pet mouse Bono pooped twice on my hand. D: Also, Sandeep & Anushya were there–so the three of us got to hear about her adventures in Dublin & read some of her published works! Well, well, Ash… And you hid this amazing side of you (or rather, were not very outspoken about it) too modestly, I gotta say. I really enjoyed reading her short story about “A Typical Malaysian Day”.

HOWEVER! What I want to rant about is how good the mutton dish was. <33333 Her grandmother cooked the entire spread that we had for lunch, and wow, was it ever amazing. Of course, me being the wuss I am, couldn’t really take so much curry, but I endeavoured to try everything and didn’t regret it. :)) It was a nice afternoon, and a lovely break from the EOS prep.

D: I’m SO not gonna lose weight at this rate.., I just had a lovely, rich lunch at Ash’s open house, there are Secret Recipe cakes waiting for me in the fridge, and I’m stuffing myself with bananas and grapes while I study…

If I happen to go clubbing after EOS, it won’t be dancing, it’ll be bouncing with my fat.
