“Something in the way he moves…”
April 29, 2008
“…Attracts me like no other lover–Something in the way he woos me.“
Old songs ring of truth.
(I know I changed it. <3 I like guys, not ladies.)
—————-
Salsa dance today was fun fun fun! :D I was sweating so much (eww gross), but had fun. Jon is a good partner! Took a while to get into the groove, but I caught on after a while. He’s decent at leading. Chin Nam is so cute when he dances! And Amanda… whoa~ She can move and looks GORGEOUS doing it. ^^ She leads amazingly when dancing the male part. Last class tomorrow, even though this was my ‘first’ class. I wish we were in a larger studio with more space. I feel so alive when dancing. It’s moving together with someone, and feels amazing when you can “get it right” and make it work!
Also did most of the BS project video today with my groupmates! They are so nice to me… T_T; I feel so irresponsible and lazy whenever I’m around them: They’re so gung-ho and on the ball when it comes to the project. Next week we finish filming, yeah! <3 Such an easy way to finish it, and yields very fun results.
Had my library fix of the day at 6pm… Attempted to study once again, didn’t get too far, but that’s okay. I will focus when I need to (Friday). It is SUCH the social place of IMU. Everyone passes through there at least once.
…I am so going to the library for all the wrong reasons.
Dropped Josh (you leech!) off at church to find his parents because he was abandoned (aww). We had a really nice talk. :) I haven’t had a nice long talk with anyone since coming home from Canada. Most people seem to be in such a rush, or just are unwilling to sit down, chill, and open up.
Aight, I’m off. I don’t want to repeat this morning’s events, where I groggily awoke to find it was 7.30am and I had to be at IMU in 30 minutes…
I made it on time. Don’t ask.
Reconnected & Plugged Back In… to POETRY!
April 28, 2008
I swear I felt naked without internet at home for a week.
…..
Well, not really naked, but close to it.
I remember being veryveryvery restless.
After waiting a week for my brother, who was on HOLIDAY *coughcough* to fix it, I manage to get it up and working in less than half an hour by myself, tonight. The problem with the connection isn’t even worth mentioning…
Thus, I have come to the conclusion that the best way to get something done is to DO IT YOURSELF!!
————-
On a happier, lighter, nerdier note, my new sanctuary is the library. There’s something about the awesome air-conditioning, company, and view that just works for me. My day is incomplete without a visit to the library, even if I don’t actually study.
:DDD I also get to see that cute someone. Wheeee.

EDIT: OMG. I forgot to write about the most entertaining part of my weekend: Poetry Slam at Zouk KL’s Loft! (yes, whoa, I went to a club)
It was Saturday night, and I met Ahnaf at the Taman Jaya LRT to journey to KLCC with him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FROGGY LUV!!! (He turned 20 on the 27th of April, Sunday) <3 Missed you lots, silly! It was wonderful seeing you. Before the slam, we sauntered over to The Apartment downtown (KLCC) to have some tapas and dessert. I totally loved being posh (and I know you did too, Froggy) and having the waiter sooooo happy to serve us! The atmosphere was very “urban chill” and reminded me of a playboy’s apartment.
We had some dory fish rolls (which were alright, but not impressive) to start us off, but what we really wanted was the DESSERT. YUMYUM. We ordered two to share: warm dark chocolate pudding with coffee cream and vanilla ice cream, and mint cream strawberry parfait with finger sponge. <3
I don’t care if I get diabetes in my old age.
We stuffed our faces like pigs when the desserts arrived. Bill was not too painful to the wallet, and I would definitely do it again. Froggy’s the only person willing to go on these dessert splurges with me, teehee. ;D
Soon after we were done, Guo Zhang arrived at the station! Thereafter, we paid up, met him, and walked to Zouk. Zhang hadn’t changed much–he was really more or less the same, but maybe had an image improvement (lulz).
I felt so cool standing outside Zouk……….
Then I went into the Loft and almost died from all the smoke.
MY CILIA STOPPED MOVING FOR HOURS!!! DDDDD:
But anyways, I was a little excited, hesitant, and curious about the poetry slam; I’d never been to one, and everyone seemed so… gung-ho about it. The crowd was quite interesting. Everyone had an accent.
How the slam worked was that these poets got up and read their original pieces. Pre-picked, random members of the audience would then rate their presentations numerically, based on what they thought about it. This happens over three rounds, with eliminations occurring until there is a winner!
We weren’t judges for the first round, but since one of the judges had to leave, Ahnaf, Guo Zhang, and I had the privilege of taking over one of the judging spots. <3 Now, when the first girl got up and presented her poem, I was impressed. That was the only time I was impressed.
The other readings were… fascinating. Not in a good way.
Me being a very nice person by nature, I tried to give these poets the benefit of doubt by repeatedly telling myself that I didn’t know what poetry was, and that there was some obscure, artsy meaning behind all the
noise and melodrama I heard spewing out of their mouths. Only one of the female poets was outstandingly good, but she didn’t win because she was nervous onstage. As for the winner… I still don’t understand why profanity is impressive.
Froggy and Guo Zhang kept me thoroughly entertained throughout the slam with their “bitchy” comments and quirks. x3
But through it all, something unnerved me.
It was just a feeling, but I couldn’t sense an ounce of reality in that room.
The event seemed suspended in the air, in its own little world, where true humanity is absent. Nothing raw or honest happened. It was all surface, superficial, and highly pretentious. Exaggerated. Everything revolved around frustration, lost love, sex, violence, anger, cuss words… Like a cycle of sin. Is that all that art is? It was weird. It was strange. I felt awkward at times. If all poetry is such, the literary world would be a dark, dark place.
The general theme I picked up on was gender confusion.
=/
Meh.
I couldn’t sing at TCS the following evening; smoke got to me and damaged my throat.
Stay away from smoke, kiddies.

April 26, 2008
I haven’t had internet for a week. T_T; I am sitting at Devi’s (My spicy corner dot com!) to check my email (120 new messages…….. ) and download my notes for next week’s lecture.
Rae is with me~ <33
Little update. TCS rehearsals are picking up. I should pick up my pace too.
I started studying today, thanks to Jon & Wei Phin’s influence… Biochem go go go! Anatomy next week.
So tired, but excited about many many things. Squee~
IMU Ball 2008 : Sensationale Symphony
April 20, 2008
Held at Park Royal hotel on the 19th of April, 2008 — the event began when the crowd arrived at 6.30pm. It was a great event; I really felt the “melancholy” of the senior batches having their last gala together before they separate to different twinning universities or to Seremban. Everyone was dressed to the nines; the men looked sharp in their formal attire, and the ladies were absolutely stunning in dresses that would put flowers to shame. The performances were great, the camwhoring was unstoppable, and the night was enjoyable, especially thanks to the emcees Arthur and Lydia (DT1/08)! ^^ Not to forget all the photographers.
Jon was my date for the night — he was very sweet and got me a corsage, drove me there early for soundchecks, got me mints, helped me take many many many pictures… Thanks Jon! You were very gentlemanly and an awesome date! ^^
And yes… Seng Chye & K-man, thanks again for helping me out with yet another last-minute performance prep. I don’t think anyone noticed… but I enjoyed performing with you guys again. The Dream Team were really good yo… I wish there had been more of a dance floor and actual chances for the dance floor to be used! It was like.. half a song. =( Next time!
I got to sort-of dance with the prom king, Kevin! xD He is good-looking. Nice work, Kevin, becoming prom king. He had a really cool face art on the right side of his face.
All in all, it was an enjoyable night. Not especially significant for myself as it wasn’t my graduating ball, but I hope all the seniors there had their fun–it looked like they did! ;D Hey, a free ticket and an excuse to dress up made it fun for me! And not to mention a great date.
Pictures can be found in my Facebook gallery.
Now, it is time for sleep and church the next morning.
The First IMU Idol
April 18, 2008
I WON!!! :DDDDDD
A big thank you to everyone who voted, especially my orientation group, T|2ouble, OOs, my batchmates ME1/08 and DT1/08, Rudy, Seng Chye, and other seniors who showed up to support and vote! Thank you Minny & Hamster for coming to watch me and vote! Hehe. Thanks to Adele and Steven from my CG coming out to watch me and vote.. and also thanks to my MUMMY AND GRANDMA for coming!! <3 Even though there were many difficulties involving accessibility, my granny came~~ Hehe. Thank you to the Idol committee who worked so hard to make it happen, despite technical difficulties on the night itself.
Jeremy, coolest emcee I have EVER seen. God bless you for your heart and sensitivity!!!
It’s the first singing competition I ever won…
Highly significant!!!! I got a bouquet of gerber daises and roses (yay roses~) and these smaller purple flowers, a participation certificate (wow), and two tickets to the IMU Ball! By the way, it was horribly hectic finding a “date” to take me. Ha ha… Everyone seemed to be busy busy busy.
KOR WOI, JIE JIE IS DAMN PROUD OF YOU~~ You ROCKED!! :D Out of everyone, I think that you are THE MOST natural on stage. You love the stage, and you love the people–hence, WE LOVED YOU (at least I did)!!! Your cool dance moves, your SS tendencies, your unmistakable voice… everything. You’re an amazing performer in my eyes. And a supa dupa batch rep.
Wei Lin, beautiful voice. Deep, full notes–and although sometime weak, GORGEOUS high notes!! You have a really sweet voice and a touch of elegance when you sing. Look forward to singing with you in choir! ^^
Zher Lin, Cheng Yee: Even though I didn’t understand Chinese and couldn’t really enjoy both your songs fully, I still found your voices both soothing to listen to and matching to the gentle tone of the songs you chose. ^^ Only Chinese songs can be so romantic and emo at the same time.
MING HUI!!! You are henceforth the coolest rocker EVERRRR!! I am SO happy that I got to meet you through this competition–seriously, you love lame jokes–and make so much more than I do–, look so cute and small with those longlonglonggg eyelashes that *pop*, but have this one helluva rocker voice. Keep rockin’ it out. =D I am your fangirl, yo.
Whelan! Pharmacy man! Hehe. I think you have such an “emo” voice… You made one of my batchmates melt with your first song from Richard Marx, heh. It was nice meeting you during this whole idol competition! Even though we are in separate programs, don’t be a stranger!! =D Keep on singing~~
And now, the IMU ball awaits. One final song there, and the excitement is over. Will write more tomorrow.
Exhilarated!
April 15, 2008
Once again, I was off-pitch. But it’s okay… >>; I’m not a professional. And this teaches me humility, reminding me that I have so much more yet to learn. Rudy thank you again. And the.. PUS (Pick Up Symphony, what a name…), thanks for playing for me again!
AUGH. SO TIRED. SOOO SOOO SOO TIRED. Ashwin knows how sleepy I was during lecture today. These black rings under my eyes are never going to disappear. =( I want a massage, strawberries, blueberries, incense, waterfalls, sexy man-slaves to do my every bidding… I am seriously very tired of not being able to have the correct lecture notes ON TIME. [/rant]
On a lighter note, IMU Idol finals are Thursday! ^^ Come and watch the finalists perform.
Singing so much makes me happy. I just wish there was a better sound system.
Oh, and on Saturday, Joel & I watched the most boring movie in the world. Ever. We made a really bad choice, thinking it would be funny. It was anything but that, apart from the ONE line in the movie that everyone laughed at. (“At least it was a man this time!”) Don’t, I repeat, DON’T watch “Feast of Love”. This ‘feast’ was horribly prepared, arrived late, and skipped the main course. Dessert was predictable. In short, boring, slow, and when the action arrived, it wasn’t redeeming at all. =< Grr.
There’s this really cute and nice guy… (and he’s not the same one as in the previous post). He sings. But is just a little pudgy. Long hair. Swoonable. Christian. Not a medical student. ;D Hohoho.
Studying beats working HANDS DOWN anytime, anywhere.
Broken Record Syndrome
April 10, 2008
Whenever I have time to relax, I am disgruntled about how little time I have to relax. =/ And every time I feel reflective and want to blog, I start to write about how my day was okay and how my schedule is busybusybusy.
What’s the cure?
Scheduling in more “relaxing” activities such as singing and dancing? Way to go, Jade. I WANT TO DO SO MANY THINGS like flower arranging, swing dancing, socializing, singing, and cuddling!! Why aren’t my days longer?
On a lighter and much sweeter note (like cotton candy), there’s somebody cuuuute. And not only is he cuuuuute, he is intelligent (and hella’ intriguing). He brings a smile to my lips every time I see him~ But he doesn’t know, oh, he doesn’t know. He will never, ever know.
Why, you ask? Because this princess knows she should concentrate on God and her studies, even though she likes to dream… As every girl does, aye? ;D
Mr. Idol Pianoman
April 7, 2008
Rudy, THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME TODAY!! *sniff*
With your amazing piano skills, you added SO MUCH to my performance!
It would have been boring and gross without you.
And thank you to my Orientation group 2 (T|2OUBLE), batchmates (ME1/08 & DT1/08), seniors, friends, and everyone else who has voted for me, cheered me on, and encouraged me when I was nervous and worried about the whole IMU Idol thing. Next week will mark the end (phew!), and it’ll be a good one.
The singers in the running have ranging abilities, and it’s a good mix. =) Rock, pop, power ballads, Chinese love songs, jazz… IMU is full of talented people. Vote for who you think was deserving–I know I will!! Good luck to my fellow singers~ It is really something to get up there and sing, baring a part of yourself to a crowd you aren’t familiar with. We all tried hard.

A Taste of Optimism
April 4, 2008
I bought a new t-shirt today! It’s the “If you can’t say it, sign it!” shirt from IMU’s Helen Keller society. I got mine in pink. It’s for charity, people. And very cute. Go buy! Only RM20! <3 I’ll wear it Sunday, for the inter-cell futsal competition! GO JARS OF CLAY!
Next week looks impossibly busy for me… Once again I am unable to carry out my study plans~! I find myself procrastinating so much: I exit my lecture hall, linger around, check the e-lab, check the library, and meander down the escalators before surveying the cafeteria, looking for unsuspecting distractions. Today was fairly unfruitful…
So I did manage to organize some notes, but didn’t do as much as I wanted–my “on a roll” attitude had to be interrupted for CF. The people in CF are really on fire and serious about God. It’s very encouraging to be a part of that group, because I know that I’m not alone in my slow, slow journey of discovery with God~
And now, for a brief view of next week:
The IMU Idol semifinal is on Monday.
The CF Easter production is on Tuesday.
The recruitment drive is either Tuesday or Wednesday.
SIB’s worship team orientation begins Thursday.
And of top of that, let’s not forget I’m supposed to be a hardworking, productive, medical student.
….
I can do this. >(
Optimism is bittersweet.

“When all the world is a hopeless jumble…”
April 2, 2008
Or rather, when all my thoughts are a hopeless jumble.
There have been too many distractions in my life lately–this is frustrating as I am unable to do what I need to do. I can’t focus, and neither can I arrange my time neatly. Aaah! Being social is nice and relaxing, but so disruptive to my routine… My room’s a mess. My thoughts are a mess. My homework is a mess. My relationships are a mess. My music is an even bigger, more urgent mess!! D:I’m so behind in everything that I’ve got to do.
This princess is anal about knowing what’s coming and laying out her entire week…and when it doesn’t work out, she gets irritated. =( She has been letting out that frustration in ways that she shouldn’t be…
I’m so whiny. Shush, Rin.
I think what I need is some quiet time alone with God, which I have been neglecting for a very long time. In fact, since I started attending IMU. I need to get back to reading my Bible and being still.
Because, at the end of it all,
“Heaven ~ opens a magic lane.”
p/s – Brownie points for whoever can identify the song I referred to. <3
